A pond with the nickname "Swan Lake", the green of the early summer, the green of the pond and the blue of the sky are all incredibly beautiful. Autumn leaves are vividly reflected on the surface of the water.
The pure water, Gozensui, springs out from the nearby wooded area and the footpath around the pond is paved. You can walk it in about 20~25 minutes.
The trees planted in the area cast a beautiful shadow on the surface of the water, and sceneries unique to Karuizawa are drawn through the four seasons.

Alexander Croft Shaw, a Canadian-born missionary, stopped by Karuizawa in 1886 in the middle of his Christian missionary trip, then widely introduced Karuizawa as an ideal summer resort to public, set up a vacation home himself and laid the foundation of Today's Karuizawa.
In honor of its achievements, the monument was erected in 1869, and in 1986 Shaw's vacation home was restored as a Shaw house as a part of the Karuizawa health recreation area 100-year commemoration project.

This beautiful waterfall is located in the water source of Yukawa river, with hundreds of underground water flows falling like white threads on rocks of 3m high and 70m wide.
The mountain stream to reach the waterfall is also beautiful.
In the spring, there are abundant wild vegetables such as udo and fatsia sprouts in the nearby forest. In the summer season, the splash of the falls and the cool breeze entertain people who visit the falls and in the autumn, the dazzling autumn leaves delight your eyes.

A waterfall of 20m high near the water source of the Yukawa branch in the Sengataki district, the mountain trail leading to the surrounding environment creates a unique atmosphere that cannot be put in words.

The first nationally-designated wild bird forest since 1974. In a vast forest of about 100 acres with chestnuts and larch trees, about 80 kinds of birds can be observed throughout the year while other wild animals such as Asiatic black bears and Japanese serows inhabit.
